The preparatory steps to enhance the practice of Pranayama are:
- Understand fully why you need to do Pranayama despite the fact there are medicines capable of controlling severity of the symptoms of the disease.
- Observing resting breathing rate. If it is high, it indicates stressed state of mind. The target resting breathing must be brought to 10 – 15 breaths per minute; lower it is better. This will not take more than 4-5 days to achieve this if you firmly believe that this step is most essential
- One of the best methods to attain lower resting breathing rate is to practise Kevala kumbhaka/Soft Bahya Pranayama.
